Early this morning, the Delhi police raided the homes of several senior journalists and interrogated them regarding matters to “terror links,” according to reports. The journalists included Abhisar Sharma, Bhasha Singh, Urmilesh, Prabir Purkaayastha, and Aunindyo Chakravarty. In addition to these journalists, the writer Githa Hariharan, activist and historian Sohail Hashmi, and satirist and stand-up comic Sanjay Rajaura were also subjected to raids. Reports indicate that the raids were conducted by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police amidst allegations that the news portal NewsClick had received funding from China.
Reports further state that no arrests have been made so far; however, some of the journalists who were raided have been taken to police stations for questioning.
Abhisar Sharma and Bhasha Singh have confirmed the raids and said their phones and laptops were seized by the Delhi Police.
“Delhi police landed at my home. Taking away my laptop and Phone…,” Mr Sharma posted on X before her phone and laptop were taken away.

Reports also stated that the raids are connected to an allegation that NewsClick, with which some of the raided journalists are currently affiliated, is among the organizations funded by a network linked to US millionaire Neville Roy Singham, which allegedly promotes Chinese propaganda.
