Senior Journalist Jyoti Malhotra Becomes First Woman Editor-in-Chief Of The Tribune Group

Senior journalist Jyoti Malhotra, who has extensive experience in television, print, and digital media, has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group. She is the first woman to hold the position in the 143-year-old Chandigarh-based publication.

Taking over from Rajesh Ramachandran, Malhotra will assume charge on May 14.

Having held senior editorial positions in several leading news organisations such as The Indian Express, Star News, India Today, and ThePrint, Malhotra has covered current affairs in India and across the world, particularly in South Asia.

Malhotra has travelled across the world with top Indian leaders, anchored news shows on television, produced political travelogues in South Asia, and written columns for magazines and newspapers globally.

A regular contributor to BBC Radio, the senior journalist’s most recent job was at ThePrint, where she worked as an editor of national and strategic affairs and then as a senior consulting editor.

The highly experienced journalist primarily focuses on issues such as politics, foreign policy, culture, and diplomacy, especially in South Asian countries including Afghanistan, the Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Malhotra pursued her undergraduate degree in BA (Hons.) Psychology from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. Later, she did her master’s from the same university.
