The groups called ‘Chorulla Palli’, ‘Mandiyulla Palli’ and so on provide real-time updates about the Masjid that serves meals during the Iftar. The groups, which first emerged among the people during 2024, display particulars such as the name of Masjid, type of dishes and the location and date, to help those in need.
According to Dhanish Rahman. C, one of the admins of a group, the initiative has been instrumental in aiding those who are staying out of their houses, especially the hostellers, in finding Masjids that serve food. The groups help them locate such Masjids nearby. Additionally, those who want to have special items such as Biriyani and Mandi can also join the group and track the Majid that serves their favourite dishes.

Several users are members of multiple similar groups, and share information regarding the Masjids serving food across these groups. Most of these groups were created recently, with only a few existing since the last Ramadan. Previously, such groups’ purposes were largely for fun, which turned out to be part of a more collective and mass-coordinated efforts that are being seen seriously engaged throughout the day.
While the admins just facilitate the endeavour by creating groups, the followers are the key players who share updates from their area, making it a collective successful venture.
Not to mention is the headache sometimes the new trend causes to regular food service in the Masjid, especially when the food runs out due to the overwhelming responses to such WhatsApp groups.
