How BJP's Devendra Singh Retained Akbarpur For Third Consecutive Term

Devendra Singh emerged victorious with a lead of 44,345 votes from Akbarpur constituency. The sitting BJP MP retained the seat, securing a total of 5,17,423 votes while rival Samajwadi Party (SP)’s Rajaram Pal received 4,73,078 votes. Devendra Singh has been representing the seat since 2014.

Also known as Bhole Singh, Devendra Singh started his political journey during the 1991 by-election in Derapur. He was also a two-time former MLA.

Rajaram Pal was the SP candidate, and was a member of 15th Lok Sabha from Akbarpur under the the banner of Congress party. He represented Bilhaur in the 14th Lok Sabha as the member of BSP earlier. He joined SP in 2021. Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi is the BSP candidate.

Akbarpur was stablished before 1952 elections. Different candidates of various parties have represented Akbarpur. Akbarpur was a bastion of BSP. BSP stalwart Mayawati has holded Akbarpur for three terms.

In 2014, Devendra Singh made his debut from Akbarpur by accumulating 481584 defeating Anil Shukla Warsi of BSP with a margin of 278897 votes. Devendra Singh repeated his victory against Nisha Sachan of BSP by garnering 581282 votes. He won with a margin of 275142 votes.  Congress relegated to third and fourth in 2019, 2014 elections respectively.
