Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: TMC's Mala Roy Won Kolkata Dakshin With A Vote Margin Of 1,87,231

Trinamool Congress candidate Mala Roy has won the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from the Kolkata Dakshin Lok Sabha constituency with a total of 1,87,231 vote margin. The BJP candidate Debasree Chaudhuri remained in second place in Kolkata Dakshin.
Mala Roy was the sitting TMC MP from Kolkata Dakshin since 2019. Mala has been the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Chairperson since 2015. Earlier the TMC candidate was a member of the Congress party but she later joined Trinamool Congress in 2000.
The Kolkata Dakshin seat is called Mamata Banerjee”s fortress as no other political party could breach the constituency since 1991 when the TMC supremo took over the seat. The TMC supremo won the Kolkata Dakshin constituency with a Congress ticket in 1991 and later since 1998-99, Mamata Banerjee has won the constituency under the TMC banner until she took up the state machinery in 2011. Subsequently, the Kolkata Dakshin seat was won by Subrata Bakshi and Mala Roy in the subsequent elections.
In 2019, in the last general elections, Mala defeated Chandra Kumar Bose of the BJP with a margin of 155,192 votes after securing a total of 33 percent votes. The BJP candidate secured 24 percent of the votes and the CPIM candidate came third in 2019.
In the 2014 elections, TMC candidate Subrata Bakshi won elections with 36.95% votes by defeating BJP’s Tathagata Roy who secured a total of 25.28% votes. CPI (M) Nandini Mukherjee secured 23.83% votes.
