
'COVID Vaccine Reduces Chances Of Heart Attack': GB Pant Hospital's Cardiologist
Amid the growing concerns of cardiac arrest-related death in India and its alleged connection with the COVID vaccines administered during the COVID-19 pandemic, the GB Pant Hospital’s report provides respite to those fearing the negative impacts of the vaccines. A study conducted on 1,600 patients with heart attacks shows a positive response to those who have taken the vaccine during the pandemic.
Dr Mohit Gupta, Professor of Cardiology, GB Pant Hospital, while talking about the study conducted on those administered vaccine and without vaccine said, “We found that those who have received the COVID vaccine not only have lower chances of having a heart attack, all-cause mortality and sudden deaths, but also, following them for 30 days and 6 months, the chances of death of those people are significantly reduced.”

Prof Gupta supported the recent study with the one conducted by ICMR also. “The COVID-19 vaccine is harmless and also plays a protective role. This study is not only ours; ICMR has also validated this… In our study, we took both the COVID vaccines, and similar results were shown for both the Covaxin and Covishield…”, he added further.

Notably, in a shocking incidents of a series of sudden deaths reatled to heart attacks in Hassan district of Karnataka raised alarming concerns in the state. Around 21 people have died of heart attacks in Hassan district in the last 40 days, as per information from the district health authorities’ data. The situation has led to chief minister Siddaramaiah directing the health department to form a committee to investigate the incidents.
Recently, the Union Health Ministry also dismissed the linking of the recent series of heart-related deaths in Karnataka’s Hassan district to the Covid vaccine. The ministry’s response came a day after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah raised suspicion about the potential link of the recent spate of cardiac deaths to the Covid vaccine.
