
Rod Fell On Neck, Gold-Medallist Female Power-Lifter Dies In Gym
Bikaner, Rajasthan: Yashtika Acharya, a 17-year-old power-lifter from Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, died after a 270-kg rod fell on her neck while practising gym on Tuesday. Acharya had recently won a gold and silver medal in two categories in the 33rd National Bench Press Championship, held in Goa.
The powerlifter’s tragic death has left friends and family members shocked. According to reports from multiple media, the teenager was practising in the gym when the squat rod slipped from her hand and fell on her neck, which caused her death. She was practising squatting with 270 kg weight. The girl fainted when the rod fell on her neck due to its heavy weight.

According to Naya Shahar police station officer Vikram Tiwari, the CCTV footage of the gym was checked, which showed the accident causing. The family does not want to get the post-mortem done and has also not filed any case concerning the incident, reports EVT Bharat.

Though the gym trainer and other co-players standing nearby tried to save her by providing CPR, nothing worked, and the athlete lost her life on the way to the hospital.
