Viral: Bengaluru CA’s Witty Jibe At Narayana Murthy Over IT Portal Shutdown

Ever since Infosys founder Narayana Murthy shared his advice for young professionals to work 70 hours a week, there has been no dearth of criticism and memes. The latest jibe at the advice has gone viral after a Bengaluru-based chartered accountant (CA) gave his witty response amid the July 31 tax deadline.

Venting his frustration, the user going by the handle @Basappamv wrote, “Narayana Murthy Saar, on your advice we, tax professionals started to work more than 70 Hours per week. Ask your Infosys team to work at least one hour per week to smoothly run the Income tax portal. Thanks in Advance.”

Netizens joined in on the criticism. One user called Ishwar Singh jokingly remarked, “70 hours also includes struggling with his IT support for 30 hours. He was wise enough to know this and informed the nation. A true nationalist who knows the strength of his development team.”

Meanwhile, several others expressed their distress over the IT portal not working while they tried to submit their income tax returns. Others noted that Murthy no longer handled the day-to-day affairs at Infosys.

Notably, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has raised the issue of shutdowns while accessing the Annual Information Statement (AIS) and Tax Information Statement (TIS) with the Joint Secretary of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), causing severe delays in filing tax returns.
