An employee was unlawfully terminated by an Indian company. The next day after submitting the resignation and the company demanded three months’ salary in exchange for providing an experience certificate, accusing the employee of improperly leaving during the background verification (BGV) process with future employers. The individual shared their experience on Reddit, seeking assistance to find a new job in Chennai.

The user with the ID name Randy31599 on Reddit shared this unjust termination and seek help from the online community to resolve this complicated issue and to find a next job in Chennai. Moreover, the reason for their resignation from the job sparked outrage and sympathy in the social media.

Sharing his pathetic situation on Reddit, the user wrote “I am a project manager and worked for the company for more than 8 months. Although I received a raise, the work pressure became unbearable. A month ago, I was diagnosed with fatty liver, and shortly after, I contracted chickenpox. When I requested 3 days of leave, my CEO asked me to work from home, but I refused and only partially supported the team”

The employee further wrote “I needed a break due to my health, so I resigned and asked for an early release in 1 month. But my CEO refused to accept my resignation, despite my condition, and insisted I continue working.”

Further complicating their wellness, the user was met with a car accident and resubmitted their resignation with additional details about their injury, but the company again refused and showed no empathy. “I took 2 days off to process everything,” they said.

But the situation become worse when the company terminated the employee the day after the resignation and issued threats. “They sent a termination email and threatened to report that I left improperly during the BGV process,” the Redditor claimed. Moreover, the user also revealed that the company have demanded three months’ salary to provide the experience certificate.

This sympathetic situation of the user gained traction and the Reddit users has offered their piece of advice and reassured the user. As one user found this action of the company as “illogical” and wrote “Here the situation is just illogical to me if you have submitted the resignation they can just early release you there is no option of termination because you have already resigned but if you need to get early release request for it on the basis of medical emergency or else just buy it out.”

Another user funnily commented “Walk in with chickenpox to the CEOs cabin and be escorted out with whatever your demand is.”

Moreover, some users also have guided the employee to handle the issue legally stating “Consult a good lawyer. If you are in Bengaluru, Prime Legal are good lawyers that had helped me with some legal issues. The company is harassing you.” Other said, “Any agreement like this is not enforceable in any court in India. Get an advocate to sue them if comes to it.”

But this issue also proves that every piece of advise will not be right. Because one commented, “Most companies in future won’t do any background check. At most they will ask for pay slips from past job. Also, ever heard of Adobe Photoshop? ;)”
