What seemed like a routine auto ride turned into a ride that left a man owing crores to Uber. Deepak Tenguriya, a regular Uber customer from Noida, was left shocked when an auto ride of Rs 62 ended up being a staggering bill of Rs 7.66 crore.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday when Tenguriya took an Uber auto ride expecting a fare of merely Rs 62 but was left speechless to find his Uber app displaying a jaw-dropping bill amount.

The incident gained public attention after Mr. Tenguriya’s friend Ashish Mishra shared a video on X (formerly known as Twitter) where Mr. Tenguriya shows the whopping amount he received in the Uber bill. In the now viral video clip, Mr. Tenguriya can be heard repeating the unbelievable amount of Rs 7,66,83,762. The breakdown of the bill revealed a trip fare of Rs 1,67,74,647, with an exorbitant waiting time charge of Rs 5,99,09189. The promotional cost of Rs 75 was deducted as well.

Expressing his disbelief, Mr. Tenguriya pointed out that waiting charges should not have been applicable since the driver did not have to wait for him. Mr. Tenguriya’s friend can be heard asking whether GST was included, which Mr. Tenguriya denied.

The friend jokingly asks,, “Tum kaha se aa rahe ho bhaiya? Mangal grah se? (Where have you come from, brother? Planet Mars?)” Mr. Tenguriya jokingly stated that he had never encountered so many zeros in a bill before. He added, “Itne ke toh ghotale nahi hote (Even corruption of this amount has not happened).”

Mr. Mishra, sharing the clip, wrote, “Early in the morning, Uber India made Deepak Tenguriya so rich that he is thinking of taking the Uber franchise next. The good thing is that the trip has not been cancelled yet. Become a crorepati loanee instantly by booking an auto for Rs 62.”

Responding to the viral incident, Uber India’s Customer Support on X issued an apology and assured Deepak that they were actively investigating the matter. Their statement read, “Hey, sorry to hear about the trouble. Please allow us some time while we are looking into this issue for you. We will get back to you with an update.”

Meanwhile, netizens chimed in with memes and jokes at the astronomical bill, prompting many to share similar experiences. Another user sent a photo of a bill of Rs 2,28,22,601 for an Uber bike ride.

Another user shared their experience of receiving Rs 36,244,991 after taking an Uber ride on the same day.

On the same day, a Bengaluru couple received a bill of Rs 1 crore for a short Uber ride from Tin Factory, KR Puram, to Koramangala, expecting a bill of Rs 250.
