Having lost something to the ocean only for it to return it to us months later sounds interesting. The exact happened to Marcie Callawaert, who is a resident of a remote island near Tofino, British Columbia. Amusingly, Callawaert has stumbled upon a familiar thing amidst the tide-washed debris while walking her dog.

The debris has her own wallet, which she lost months back. Callawaert accidently lost the wallet while boarding a boat in June 2023. Talking to media, she said she only realized that she lost the wallet after hearing the splash. She said she forgot to zip the backpack that the wallet goes into while boarding the boat.

Callawaert is known for documenting her off-grid island life on Tik Tok, with over 47,000 followers. She had previously said that she accepted the wallet’s disappearance after a diver search ended up futile. She herself went snorkelling to look for the wallet, but could not find it.

Taking to her social media handle, she said that she had held hope the wallet ad stayed nearby and the winter wind and swells would bring it back to the beach. She said she believe the contents in her wallet to be her new good luck charms.

Though oceans are known to be ferocious sometimes, it showed that gentle shade in Callawaert’s case. While the eight months of salty embrace has claimed the zipper, everything else in the wallet including the cash and identification cards remain unscathed.

The video from Callawaert has garnered 7 million views on Tik Tok. She said she has been receiving calls from media and agencies around the world to know about the incident and she finds it little funny how much attention it is getting.
