Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with several world leaders at the sideline of G7 Summit hosted by Italy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the G7 Summit, held at southern Italy. The summit was held to reiterate the concerns and priorities of the Global South countries which “are bearing the brunt of global uncertainties and tensions”. During the summit, the PM highlighted India’s presidency of the G20 under which the African Union was made a permanent member of the grouping.

This is the first trip taken by PM Modi after retaining power for the third consecutive term. He arrived in Italy on Friday to attend the outreach session that focused on issues relating to artificial intelligence (AI), energy, Africa and the Mediterranean.

At the sideline of 50th Group of Seven Leaders’ summit, he met with several other world leaders including UK’s Rishi Sunak, France’s Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

During his bilateral with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, PM Modi discussed several issues including  improving India-Ukraine ties.

The PM also had conversation with Brazil’s President Lula Da Silva, Turkey President Recep Tayyib Erdogan, and UAE President, Mohammed Bin Zayed.

PM Modi held bilateral meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

He held bilateral talks with the host nation’s leader Georgia Meloni. They discussed about augmenting partnership opportunities in defence development and production, along with increasing cooperation in the areas of clean energy, telecom and critical minerals.

 He also met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
