Trump Slams Macron’s "Publicity Seeking" Remarks After G7 Exit Amid Israel-Iran Tensions (image-X/pr0ud_americans)
Trump left G7 summit abruptly on Monday, cutting short his visit. French President Emmanuel Macron, assessing the situation, had claimed that Trump had left early in order to make a ceasefire deal with Iran and Israel.
However, refuting the comments of the French President, Trump, in a post on his Truth Social handle had clarified that his early departure had “nothing to do with” a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. “Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a “cease fire” between Israel and Iran”.
“Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that,” Trump said in his post.

The sharply worded post marks a fresh public clash between the leaders of two longtime allies, and the news came amidst rising global anxiety over escalating Iran-Israel violence. Trump has not yet clarified his reason for the sudden return, and his posts seem to signal that the matter is more serious than a ceasefire. His cryptic tone, however, had left the speculation swirling.
On Monday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, in a post on X, said that much was accomplished during Trump’s meeting on Monday with other leaders at the summit in Canada. But, she continued, “because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.”
The change of plans only added to the sense of uncertainty around Israel’s ongoing military aggression on Iran. Trump, in his post on X, has also called on the evacuation of the 10 million people from Tehran. Notably, the warning has come just hours after the Israeli government issued its own evacuation order to citizens in northern Tehran.

According to Politico, it is unclear whether Trump is privy to new plans by Israel to strike at additional targets inside Iran, or simply trying to scare Tehran back into nuclear talks. But at the same time, the officials at the White House and the Pentagon, clarifying their stance on the post on X, had stated that the US forces in the region would remain in a “defensive” posture and were not about to join Israel’s offensive.
