After Abhishek Nayar, Ryan Ten Doeschate's Name Emerges For Team India Support Staff Role

Following the rumors that the newly appointed Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir wants to rope in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant coach Abhishek Nayar as his assistant coach; fresh developments have indicated that former Netherlands star Ryan Ten Doeschate is linked for the role of a support staff.

Ten Doeschate was roped in as the fielding coach of KKR in November 2022 and served under Gambhir during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024-winning triumph. He has also served for KKR’s subsidiaries in the Caribbean Premier League, Major League Cricket, and ILT20.

The former KKR mentor had shown faith in Ten Doeschate and called him one of the most selfless players ever. “When I talk about selflessness, I have never said this in 42 years of my career. And I wanted to say this. The greatest team man I ever played with, the most selfless human being, someone I can take a bullet for, someone who I can trust for life.

“I can tell you this because in 2011, my first game as a KKR captain, we only had four overseas (players) available. And this man had a fabulous 50-over World Cup. And we went in that game with only three overseas players. He was carrying drinks in that game with no disappointment on his face. He taught me selflessness. Ryan ten Doeschate (sic),” Gambhir said in the video, shot at a KKR function last season.

Earlier, a report in Cricbuzz, suggested that the selection process for the other support staff for Team India will take some time but the Indian Cricket Board is considering Vinay Kumar and L Balaji for the bowling coach position.
