The X user Abhishek recollecting the memories of the former cricketer wrote on X, “One such player batted with White Helmet, Amulet(taveez) around the neck, raised collar, & that walk full of Swag…”. He also added in his post that more than the records the players set on the field, their playing style remains etched in the hearts of the viewers. “Cricket is a visual sport & you remember the players by their playing style rather than the records…Yet very few players have that magic which you just can”t forget if you”ve watched it live…,” he wrote.
Sharing the video of the player batting in style, Abhishek wrote ‘he used to fly helicopters with his wrists’. Describing every single move of Azharuddin, “Watching Azhar bat was a masterclass in finesse…The way he effortlessly glided across the pitch, his wristwork, & the way he found gaps with precision was unparalleled…,” the post read.
The player who celebrated his birthday in February has set some astonishing sets of records on the field. Highlighting each one, the X user wrote, “no one scored more hundreds than him in won games for India in 90s”.
Azharuddin has played 17 out of 18 test matches India has won during the 90’s. He has scored 1336 runs with a 63.61 average and no Indian cricketer was able to make runs more than Azharuddin. And no player was able to score a century in all these games.
“Azhar batted majority of the times at no.5; He scored 4346 runs in 94 innings with 16 centuries with 48.83 Avg at No.5,” the post read.
Even in ODIs; 47 batters scored 1000 runs in 90s in Middle order(4-7) Only 2 players, Azhar and Bevan, managed to do it with 40+ Avg and 75+ Strike Rate.
Before the entry of the star player Sachin Tendulkar, Azharuddin was the only player in the Top 15 run-getters in ODIs. The threads of the post further talk about his never-ending achievements and how he has gracefully played each role in the team.
