West Indies batters Roston Chase and Matthew Forde indulged in a verbal spat on the field after a horrible mix-up during the third ODI against Australia in Canberra on Tuesday. In the 21st over, matters became bad to worse for the West Indies as Forde was dismissed due to a horrible mix-up.
The lower-order batter pulled a shortish delivery from Xavier Bartlett towards short mid-wicket while Chase was ball-watching to make sure the ball cleared the fielder so he always asked Forde to wait before taking a quick single. However, Forde looked adamant about the run and kept running. It allowed the fielder to pick up the ball and attack at the striker”s end as Forde slipped while trying to return to his crease and was run out comfortably by the Australians.
The moment ignited a verbal spat between the duo as Forde suggested that it was his call while heading back to the dressing room while Chase seemingly said that he didn”t hear the call.

West Indies were already reeling at 73/6 when Forde took the risky single. As a result, he was sent packing for a two-ball duck. Meanwhile, Chase could not add much to the team tally as he was dismissed in the 23rd over by Bartlett for 12 runs off 26 deliveries.
West Indies, who failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2023, folded for 86 runs. Bartlett was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 4/21.
