BCCI Underlines Criteria For New Team India Head Coach

The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) underlined specific criteria for the new Team India head coach after inviting applications for the position. The deadline for the application for the position is set on May 27, 2024, by 6 pm IST and the process of selection will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates.

As per the Indian Cricket Board, the specific criteria required for the post include, being “responsible for developing a world-class Indian cricket team which delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers and stakeholders with their approach to the game.”

“The Head Coach will have overall responsibility for the performance and management of the India Men’s team in all three formats of the game.

“The Head Coach will lead a team of specialist coaches and support staff and will be responsible for defining their roles, their performance and ongoing development

“The Head Coach will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and enforcing the disciplinary codes within the Indian Men’s team.”

Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had mentioned that the current Team India head coach Rahul Dravid, whose contract will come to an end after the T20 World Cup 2024 in June, can re-apply for the position.

Dravid took over the position in November 2021 after India”s exit from the T20 World Cup. His initial contract came to end after the 50-Over World Cup in 2024 but it was extended till the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean as he guided the national team to the final at the home World Cup.
