Carlos Alcaraz, at 21, retains his Wimbledon title, becoming the youngest to win both Wimbledon and Roland Garros in the same year. He is also the youngest back-to-back Wimbledon men’s singles champion since Boris Becker in 1986. Alcaraz halted Djokovic’s latest bid for history, establishing his own legacy with four grand slam finals victories.

The Spanish sensation triumphed over Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4), securing his second Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles Championship. Djokovic, despite a strong effort, couldn’t overcome Alcaraz’s prowess.

In the final set, Djokovic saved three championship points and broke back to make it 5-5, but Alcaraz remained resolute. A brilliant drop shot and Djokovic’s netted backhand sealed Alcaraz’s win. The match concluded with a heartfelt embrace and words between the players, followed by Alcaraz celebrating with his family in the stands.

After receiving the trophy from Princess of Wales Catherine, Alcaraz said: “The most beautiful tournament. The most beautiful court. The most beautiful trophy.”

“It was 40-0. Djokovic is an unbelievable fighter, I tried to win with my serve, but I couldn’t. I tried to stay calm and positive going into the tie-break and play my best tennis. That’s all I was thinking about. I’m glad at the end I could find the solutions,” he added.

“Obviously not the result I wanted, especially in the first couple of sets. I wasn’t up to par but credit to Carlos. I tried to push him and save the three match points to extend the match a little bit longer. But he was the deserved winner today,” Djokovic said about his journey in this year’s Wimbledon.

“I try to remind myself sometimes of how surreal it is being here; being really blessed to fight for the trophy. Every time I step on the court it feels like the first time. I’m a child living a childhood dream,” he added.
