Paris 2024: Rafael Nadal-Carlos Alcaraz Set To Pair Up For Men's Doubles Event

Prolific Spanish duo Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are set to pair up for the Men’s Doubles event at Paris 2024, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) announced on Wednesday.

Spain coach David Ferrer confirmed that the pair of Nadal and Alcaraz has been put on the roster while a second pair is still to be named.

“One pair, which I think everyone knows and was hoping for is Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal and the second pair is yet to be decided, it hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet,” said Spain coach David Ferrer while announcing the squad.

“We’ll wait a bit before announcing that. But Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris,” he added.

Nadal had clinched a gold medal in Beijing 2008 while Alcaraz will be making his foray into the event after clinching the French Open 2024 title.

It was not confirmed whether Nadal will participate at the Paris 2024 due to a set of injuries but the Spanish coach Ferrer said that he will be available to team up with Alcaraz.

Incidentally, Nadal wasn’t sure if it would be his last appearance at French Open after losing 3-6, 6-7(5), 3-6 in the first round to Alexander Zverev.

“I don’t know if this is the last time, I’m not 100% sure. But if it is, I enjoyed it. For me, it is so special to feel the love of the people in the place I love the most,” Nadal said on court after the match. “It’s a big percentage chance that I will not be back here. I have some goals in front (of me), I hope to be on this court for the Olympics, but we will have to wait and see.”
