According to Priya's father, his daughter and Singh got acquainted through one of her friends whose father is also a cricketer.

Amidst speculations, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is all set to tie the knot with Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Priya Saroj, confirmed her family.

Priya’s father and SP MLA from Kerakat, Tufani Saroj, said that the families of both had “meaningful talks” in Aligarh on February 16. He also said that both Rinku and Priya have known each other for over a year now and have always liked each other.

The official date of the engagement and wedding will be decided after the Parliament session, according to Saroj.

Earlier there were reports that the two had gotten engaged in Uttar Pradesh. Responding to the same, Priya’s father stated that no engagement has taken place and any claims suggesting otherwise are baseless, quoted News 18.

No ring ceremony or pre-wedding programme has been held so far, he clarified. The engagement is expected to be held in Lucknow although no date has been fixed yet.

According to the three-time MP, his daughter and Singh got acquainted through one of her friends whose father is also a cricketer.

Rinku Singh is headed to England for a T20 series beginning from January 22 and will also be playing in the IPL after this. Priya’s father said that everything will be planned to ensure that his game remains unaffected.

According to Telegraph, the two families met at Singh’s house in Ozone City, Aligarh and finalised the marriage by exchanging ‘shagun’ and gifts.

Born on November 23, 1998, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Priya currently represents Machhali Shahar in Uttar Pradesh. Prior to entering politics, she was a lawyer who has worked in the Supreme Court.  In her electoral debut in 2024, she won the Machhali Shahar constituency with a margin of 35,850 votes. Priya became the second-youngest MP in Lok Sabha at the age of 25.

Known for his impressive performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rinku Singh was recently selected for India’s T20I series against England and is expected to play a key role in India’s middle order during the series.
