Argentinian superstar and Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi’s bodyguard Yaseen Chueko is now trending on social media. Videos of him sprinting alongside Messi down the touchline has gone viral along with videos of Cheuko keeping away the intruders.
Lionel Messi hits the US headlines soon after his arrival into the club by winning its first-ever silverware within a month and now his bodyguard too. Along with the FIFA World cup winner, his bodyguard has attracted the attention of millions.
According to some reports, Yassine Cheuko is a former soldier of the United States Army and has served in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Navy Seal, however, some reports said he is a “fraud” quoting former US Navy veterans. The bodyguard also has a background in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) with a proficiency in taekwondo and boxing, making him the ideal protector for football”s most important personality on American soil, according to Sports Brief.
It’s the latest in a series of sightings of Messi’s bodyguard, reportedly specifically brought on board by Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham, as per The Nation. Amid the rising numbers of pitch invaders, Bekham suggested highly skilled Cheuko.
The limelight fell on Yassine Cheuko when he was seen going towards the corner flag in the U.S. Open Cup semi-finals. It was a game played by FC Cincinnati and Messi’s Inter Miami. When they eventually won the game in penalty shoot-out, fans noticed a man around Messi in a bid to safeguard him from potential intruders at the time of celebration and this video went viral.
“Ever since I arrived, the welcome has been impressive. It’s a city with many Latinos, and that’s why everything is easier. The Latinos are much closer, much more demonstrative, always showing affection and closeness,” Messi told reporters in a media interaction.
Cheuko is always in close distance with Messi, whether it be walking from the bus to the changing rooms, or strolling along the touchline, he guards the player even after the matches, even when he is out with his family in public.
