Dutch Referee Dies Weeks After Being Removed By FIFA From World Cup 2026
Weeks after the FIFA World Cup removal, a Dutch football referee, Rob Dieperink, died at 38. FIFA had removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup 2026. The cause of the death has not been announced to the public.
FIFA had picked Dieperink as a video Assistant Referee (VAR) at the tournament. However, following a police investigation in Britain, the football association dropped him, though the case was later rejected due to the lack of evidence.
