Rishabh Pant appeared during Team India”s training session ahead of the third and final T20 against Afghanistan at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Wednesday. The India wicketkeeper-batter shared light-hearted moments with Team India members while Rinku Singh handed him the bat to train at the nets.

Pant was largely seen fooling around with his teammates, including captain Rohit Sharma. More importantly, the Delhi batter was seen shadow-practicing at the nets before taking throwdowns from BCCI”s National Cricket Academy (NCA) Staff that lasted for 20 minutes. However, there seemed to be a bit of discomfort in his walking movements.

After his initial phase of recovery after the car accident, Pant has carried on his rehab at the NCA in Bangalore. He had tore all three key ligaments in his right knee during the accident. Since then, he has gone through several reconstructive surgeries to the ligaments and has also made appearances on social media and television commercials.

It is expected that Pant will make a comeback to professional cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Delhi Capitals captain was a part of the IPL auction earlier this year. Meanwhile, in an interview earlier, Sourav Ganguly said that Pant will be available for the lucrative tournament in the upcoming season.

“He’s (Pant) good now. He will play in the IPL next season. There’s still time for him to get down to practice. By January (2024), he’ll get even better,” Ganguly had said during the DC camp at Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus.

The India wicketkeeper-batter made his last appearance for Team India in a Test match against Bangladesh at Mirpur in December 2022.
