Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was at his animated best during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Fielding at the slips, Sharma humorously teased Dinesh Karthik with a T20 World Cup 2024 selection rant while Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan looked on.
“Shabash DK! T20 World Cup mein selection ke liye push karna hai isko. Dimagh mein chal raha hai iske World Cup. (Well done DK! He is pushing for a spot in the T20 World Cup. His mind is occupied with the thought of the World Cup),” Rohit was caught saying on the stump mic to Karthik.

Karthik was in all smiles throughout the rant and remained unperturbed in his innings as notched up a quick fire knock of 53 runs off 23 deliveries, which included five boundaries and four hits over the top. His innings guided RCB to a challenging total of 196/8 in the stipulated 20 overs after being asked to bat.
However, the Mumbai Indians top-order fired in unison to chase down the target in 16th over. The opening pair of Kishan (69) and Sharma (38) stitched together a stand of 101 runs while Suryakumar Yadav added 52 runs off 19 deliveries with captain Hardik Pandya (21 not out) and Tilak Verma (16 not out) making crucial contributions.
RCB, meanwhile, registered their fourth consecutive loss in the IPL 2024.
