Nita Ambani Re-Elected As International Olympic Committee Member

India sports administrator Nita Ambani was on Wednesday unanimously re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Ambani earned 100 per cent of the votes at the 42nd IOC session in Paris ahead of the Games, slated to get underway on July 26. She thanked IOC President Thomas Bach for being re-elected as the member.

“I am deeply honoured to be re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee. I would like to thank President (Thomas) Bach and all my colleagues in IOC for their faith and trust in me,” Ambani said.

“This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also a recognition of India’s growing influence in the global sporting arena. I share this moment of joy and pride with every Indian and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement in India and around the world,” she added.

Ambani first joined the governing body of the Olympics in 2016 at the Rio Games and became the first Indian woman to do so. She has been the chief administrator for India since then and has also shown her vision for the growth of the Games.

Besides that, she was instrumental in driving the IOC session in Mumbai in October 2023, for the first time in 40 years.

She is the chairperson of the Reliance Foundation and drives initiatives towards sports and culture to guide their development in India.
