Simone Biles Submits 'Weiler-Kip' On The Uneven Bars For Paris 2024

American superstar gymnast Simone Biles has submitted a new element, the Weiler-Kip on the uneven bars, for her participation at the Paris 2024, the International Gymnastic Federation (FIG) announced on Friday.

The Weiler-Kip with a one-and-a-half pirouette (540-degree turn) will be used for evaluation on the uneven bars. The element is used to circle the bar forward before shooting up to a handstand.

In case, Biles performs the Weiler one-and-half successfully in Paris 2024, the element would be named after her on uneven bars, giving her at least one successful element on each apparatus. The American typically competes using the Weiler-Kip with a half-turn, but she could opt for Weiler with a full pirouette as a backup option. The Weiler with a full pirouette was named after Australia’s Georgia Godwin last season.

Svetlana Khorkina is the only woman with a skill named on all four elements. She has, on occasion, nine elements named after her but the 2022-24 FIG women’s code of points only credits her with skills on the vault, bars, and balance beam.

Meanwhile, Biles has five elements named after her: two vaults, a balance beam dismount, and two double-flipping elements on the floor exercise. But there is a high chance of one more element being named after her by the end of Paris 2024.
