Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza shared a post on her Instagram story wall praying for the children of Palestine. “I pray for the day when the children of Palestine wake up to the sound of birds and not bombs”, the story read.
She is among the very few Indian celebrities who have spoken for Palestine. Sania Mirza is an Indian former professional tennis player and former doubles world No.1. She has won major six titles- three in women’s doubles and three in mixed doubles.
As the conflict had captured international headlines, many celebrities are using social media to express their support.
As the conflicts enters to ninth day, the terror scenes of bloodshed, helplessness and eternal screaming is all that remains in the land of Gaza. The ongoing conflict began as a result of Saturdays unprecedented attack by Hamas militants over Israel. Soon after which Netanyahu declared war on the people of Palestine.
The Hamas attack included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel. This was in response to growing violence against Palestinians and retaliation for the storming of the Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem. Israel has responded by cutting water and electricity supplies to Gaza further launching airstrikes on the people of Palestine.
On Friday, around one million Palestinians were asked to live their homes and move to Southern part. UN warned that evacuating almost half of the highly populated Palestine city would be heavily catastrophic. Hospitals are flooded with injured and dead bodies but the bombardment of Israel military continues to shower upon schools, houses, hospitals and even ambulances.
