England Test captain Ben Stokes suffered a horrific injury while plying his trade for Northern Superchargers against Manchester Originals in The Hundred Men’s Competition 2024 at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on Wednesday.
Stokes, 33, left the field on crutches after suffering a hamstring injury as he was accompanied by two staff members of the franchise. The incident took place while he was trying to take a quick single and grabbed the back of his left foot in pain while hitting the floor. The injury puts his further participation in the tournament in doubt.

Moreover, he is likely to miss out on the first Test against Sri Lanka, starting at the same venue on August 21. The premier England all-rounder was under-par with his performance as he registered a duck in the first match for Northern Supercharger while adding four runs to his tally in the next two matches.
Stokes had made a return to the franchise for the first time since 2021. He linked up with his former England teammate Andrew Flintoff at the Northern Superchargers.
The England veteran featured in only two matches in his inaugural season even after being named in the squad. He chose to appear for his national team in the longest format and take his time away from cricketing action to rest in between after having suffered a chronic knee injury. Incidentally, he underwent a surgery for the knee after the 50-over World Cup last year.
