England Champions captain Kevin Pietersen and West Indies Champions captain Darren Sammy had a hilarious banter at the toss ahead of the World Championship Of Legends clash in Birmingham on Tuesday.
Ahead of the toss, the former England captain almost convinced his West Indies counterpart to bowl first but Sammy chose against doing so in a hilarious manner.
“He’s (Kevin Pietersen) trying to get me to have him bowl first. But we’ll bowl first,” Darren Sammy said after winning the toss.
Later, veteran match presenter Alan Wilkins asked Pietersen about his decision. The conversation busted into a hilarious banter as the former England Champions captain said that it was a very big mistake to get a stadium named after Darren Sammy at the Gros Islet, Saint Lucia but complimented him for his being a wonderful captain and a coach.

“Yes, we did (wanted to bowl first). We’ll have a chat in a minute because he said he’ll have a bat but he’ll bowl. No, you can’t trust (these stand-in captains) but he’s a wonderful captain and doing good things as a coach at the moment. I think that was a very big mistake (to get a stadium named after Darren Sammy). But mistakes happen in life, we’ll make them,” Kevin Pietersen responded.
Sammy, meanwhile, had the last laugh in the match as the West Indies Champions defeated the England Champions by five wickets after Pietersen’s quick-fire effort of 42 runs from 19 deliveries.
