Former England captain Kevin Pietersen, a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 expert panel for the host broadcasters, recalled a scary incident that led to the rerouting of his plane due to missiles fired from Iran.

On a social media post, Pietersen revealed the incident while he was enroute to Mumbai to join the IPL 2024 expert panel for the El Clasico between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

“Well that”s a first. Our plane last night had to go back and add another big load of fuel cos we had to reroute to avoid the missiles from Iran. MADNESS!!!! Anyway, in Mumbai and at Wankhede later. One of my favourite cricket grounds!,” Pietersen wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Following the scary situation, Pietersen shared his picture on his Instagram story upon his safe arrival to Mumbai airport. He also shared glimpses of his hotel room before the IPL 2024 content.

Meanwhile, the Indian embassy on Sunday issued an advisory to Indian citizens amid the tense situation between Israel and Iran where it urged its people to stay calm and adhere to the safety protocols issued by the local authorities.

Furthermore, the embassy highlighted that they are closely monitoring the situation in Israel and are in touch with the Israeli authorities.

“In light of recent events in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay calm and adhere to the safety protocols issued by the local authorities (https://www.oref.org.il/en),” the Indian embassy in Israel said in a statement.

“Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with the Israeli authorities and Indian community members to ensure the safety of all our nationals,” it added.
