IRGC Says 'Shot Down US MQ-9 Drone, Fired At US Fighter Jet' Over Iranian Airspace
Tehran, Iran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday, May 26, said that its air defence units had shot down a US MQ-9 drone and fired at a fighter jet that had entered Iranian airspace, the country’s state media reported.
The incident follows the US attack on Iranian territory amid the Doha peace talks to end the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Iran said that it has reserved the “legitimate and definite” right to retaliate against any ceasefire violations by the US.

On Tuesday morning, US forces have launched new strikes at southern Iran claiming to hit boats trying to lay mines, as top Iranian negotiators arrived in Doha for talks to end the three-month-old war. The central command said that the “US forces conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.”
However, Iran has not responded to the attack stating it has reserved the “legitimate and definite” right to retaliate against any ceasefire violations by the US. The US attack came at a time when the negotiations are underway to end the conflict, threatening to break the already fragile ceasefire that began April 8 as the United States and Iran struggle to reach an agreement.
