In a thrilling showdown at Narendra Modi Stadium, Australia emerged victorious in the ICC World Cup final against India on Sunday, marking an end to a spectacular tournament that captured the hearts of cricket fans worldwide. The match, characterized by intense competition, saw Australia”s exceptional performance securing them the coveted trophy. India, with an unbeaten run of 10 matches in the tournament, finally lost to Australia who has outmanoeuvred the host nation both in batting and bowling in the final, however, won the hearts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his admiration to Team India after the loss in the final, acknowledging their outstanding talent and determination throughout the World Cup. In a heartfelt message, he stated, “Dear Team India, your play with great spirit and pride has been noteworthy. We stand with you today and always. Congratulations to Australia on a magnificent World Cup victory! Compliments to Travis Head for his remarkable game today.”

Rahul Gandhi, echoing sentiments of support, commended Team India”s solid performance throughout the tournament. “Win or lose, we love you either way, and we will win the next one. Congratulations to Australia for a well-deserved World Cup victory,” he expressed.

Bollywood superstar and co-owner of IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders Shah Rukh Khan lauded the Indian team for their remarkable journey, expressing pride in their overall performance. “It’s a sport and there are always a bad day or two. Unfortunately, it happened today… but thank you Team India for making us so proud of our sporting legacy in cricket,” Khan remarked.

Politician and cricket pundit Shashi Tharoor, emphasizing the sportsmanship spirit, acknowledged that the better team on the day had won. “Congratulations Australia on a well-deserved victory. And cheer up, India. You won ten matches in a row and were unquestionably the best team in the tournament — till today. Nothing to be ashamed of,” he reassured.
