What Wrestler Antim Panghal Said About The Events Led To Disciplinary Action Against Her

After disciplinary action was taken against wrestler Antim Panghal at the ongoing Paris Olympics, the wrestler has issued her side of the story in a video as she refused the rumours explaining her sister’s arrest in Paris.

This is what the wrestler said:

“I had come here to the Olympics, there was a bout yesterday. I got defeated. It is wrong that the police had taken me. When I was defeated, I caught a fever. I sought permission to visit my sister at the hotel. The permission was given. I went to the hotel. I wanted my luggage that was kept in the village. Then my sister went to the village with my accreditation card. She asked for my luggage. They took my accreditation card and took her to the police station for verification. They are saying that the coach fought with a cab driver. But it was not so. We had booked his cab, he came to the hotel. He told the driver that he did not have the Euro and hence came to the room to take Euro to pay him. It led to an altercation but not like it is being talked about.” she concluded.

Antim also said that her sister had been released from custody after the verification and affirmed that her coach hadn’t fought with any cab drivers as she found her couch in disappointment seeing her loss in the match. She explained that this chaos was because of the language barrier and no deliberate move befell just as how they took report of the incidents. In the video, she requested everyone to not spread any rumours on the matter as she is about to return to India anytime soon.

Reports have said Antim Panghal is likely to be banned for three years by the Indian Olympics Association (IOA) for indiscipline during the Paris Olympics. She lost her match 0-10 against Turkey’s Yetgil Zeynep in the women’s 53kg wrestling event on Wednesday.
