China’s Ding Liren, the defending world chess champion has been the subject of a shocking allegation that he is accused of deliberately losing the final game of the World Chess Championship to India’s D Gukesh. This claim was made by Andrei Filatov, the chief of the Russian Chess Federation.

The final game of the championship was played on Thursday, and Ding Liren made a mistake that cost him the game. This mistake was described as “extremely suspicious” by Filatov, who has asked the International Chess Federation (FIDE) to investigate the result. Filatov stated that Ding Liren’s actions in the final game were deliberate and required a separate investigation.

D Gukesh, who is just 18 years old became the youngest world chess champion in history after winning the World Chess Champion. He secured 7.5 points, beating Ding Liren’s 6.5 points. Gukesh will receive a prize of USD 1.3 million which is approximately Rs 11.03 crore.

However, this allegation by Andrei Filatov has now sparked controversy, as some suggested that it should not deliberately turn the news into something negative and humiliate the championship winner.

Gukesh’s victory became a historic moment for India and he has become the second Indian to win the championship after Viswanathan Anand. Anand, who is a five-time world champion, played a crucial role in shaping Gukesh’s career at his chess academy in Chennai.

Gukesh was overwhelmed with emotion after his victory and described it as a dream come true. He said, “I have been dreaming of this moment for the last 10 years. I am happy that I realised the dream and made it into reality.

On the contrary, Ding Liren, who lost the game stated that he had no regrets about losing the game but had tried his best to be fair.
