Is romantic relationship between a human and artificial intelligence (AI) possible? Alicia Framis, a Spain-based performing artist, believes that it is possible. Alicia Framis is set to make history by marrying an AI-generated hologram. Framis’ future husband is a digital entity developed using holographic technology and machine learning. Euronews reported that the ceremony will take place this year at the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.
As per the report, the Spanish artist is also working to create molecular food for their wedding banquet that both humans and humanoids can enjoy. Alicia Framis aims to reflect on the interaction between humans, AI, and contemporary art with this significant project. “AI is still very connected to science and lacks poetry, art, and warmth,” said Framis in a statement on her website. The creator also added that she is currently exploring how AI with art can decrease the feeling of loneliness in humans.
Alicia Framis has also revealed the reason for choosing to develop a hologram rather than a robot. She said that holograms are more closely to her feelings than robots. “We have already experienced how telephones saved the world from loneliness and filled the void of human lives. Now, holograms as interactive presences in our homes can go further,” Alicia Framis added.
The Spanish artist further stated that AI and human partners can be a good option for those who need companionship. Alicia Framis is aiming to bring science and art together in order to develop deeper relationships and assist individuals with congenital or acquired diseases and physical disabilities. Notably, as per the creator”s website, she was also trained as an astronaut by the European Space Agency.
