Apple”s much-awaited mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, is all set to hit the market. Apple announced that the sale of the Vision Pro headset will begin on February 2 in the United States. The pre-orders for Apple Vision Pro will begin on January 19. At the same time, the company has not yet announced the retail availability of headsets in other markets, including India.

“Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that transforms how people work, collaborate, connect, relive memories, and enjoy entertainment,” said Apple in a statement released on January 8. Apple Vision Pro, powered by VisionOS, was unveiled during Apple”s annual software developer conference (WWDC) in June 2023. It is worth mentioning that this device is Apple’s first new product in years since the arrival of the Apple Watch in 2015, and it is the biggest product launch since the iPhone went on sale in 2007.

The mixed reality headset, which allows users to interact through their eyes, gestures, and voice, comes with a starting price of $3,499. Apple says that intuitive gestures permit users to interact with apps by “simply looking at them, flicking their wrist to scroll, tapping their fingers to select, or using a virtual keyboard or dictation to type.” Users will be able to quickly open or close apps with the help of Siri. Apple also mentioned in its statement that more than 1 million apps across iOS and iPadOS are available on Apple Vision Pro. These apps can appear side by side at any scale for multitasking. Also, Vision Pro has an all-new App Store where users can find apps that provide spatial computing experiences.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created. “Its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine how we connect, create, and explore,” added Tim Cook. With the launch of Vision Pro, Apple is all set to compete in the augmented-reality (AR) headset market dominated by Meta.
