Susan Wojcicki, Former YouTube CEO passes away after battling cancer for 2 years. Google Sundar Pichai shared this unfortunate news on the X platform. He wrote that he is deeply saddened by his friend’s demise as she combated cancer for 2 years and it is hard to imagine a world without her, stating the depth of their friendship he mourns in his heartfelt tribute.


It was first shared by Susan Wojcicki’s husband Dennis Troper, on Facebook that he broke the news with profound sadness as his beloved wife left him and the 5 children after battling non-small cell lung cancer for 2 years. She has been a loving mother, a great partner and a brilliant woman, Dennis added.

Susan Diane Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube contributed to the company’s growth from 2014 to 2023. She worked in the technology industry for over 20 years and was involved in the creation of Google in 1998 renting her office space to one of Google’s founders, In 1999, she worked as Google’s debut marketing manager and later headed up the company’s original video service and online advertising business.

Wojcicki joined as CEO of YouTube in February 2014 and was named one of the most influential people and later selected as the most powerful woman on the internet. She highlighted the need for educational content on the platform and as a result, Google announced the initiative ‘YouTube Learning’ promoting education-focused creator content.

She married Dennis Troper, Google’s director of product management, in 1998. Wojcicki had been always a part of motivating others writing journals and speaking about the importance of finding a balance between family and career. In 2022, she was diagnosed with cancer and combated the disease for 2 years, but succumbed at the age of 56.
