At the Google for India event on Thursday (today) Hema Buduraju, the product leader of Google’s search team unveiled that Gemini Live which is a conversational AI feature supporting nine Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu, Telugu, Marathi and Kannada. Earlier it was limited to Gemini advanced users, however, the company recently made it available for iOS and Android users in 10 different voices for free.

Now, the Gemini AI voices can be used in these nine Indian languages so that Gemini can speak and respond to the users as per their preferred language. The new addition is considered a game changer for all, making it more accessible and convenient for entrepreneurs, artists and teachers, said Hema Buduraju. She also added that a ballpark of 40 per cent of Gemini users have already started using the voice feature, now these added languages will make it more accessible for all the users.
She also pointed out that Gemini Live allows users to get acquainted with real-time responses from AI and Google expands its AI overviews which were available in English and Hindi and will be rolled out to other Indian languages such as Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu in the coming weeks which aids users to seek quick information on the Google search result page.

Google unwrapped the annual event ‘Google for India’ today on Thursday (October 3) at 11:30 AM which is a platform where the tech giant announced the latest innovations exclusively for the Indian market to showcase enhanced versions of AI tools and features. Three key announcements include the expansion of Gemini AI features to India, the addition of new Indian languages to Gemini Live support and the enhanced AI overview in Google Search.
