As a tribute to the lives that lost in Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, the search giant Google placed a ‘black ribbon’ on its homepage. The icon has been placed just below the search bar.
When the cursor is placed near the ‘black ribbon’, a message appears, “In memory of the victims of the tragic plane crash.”

An Air India flight bound to London crashed in the Meghani Nagar area near the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday. The incident occurred around 1:00-2:00 pm. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171 to London Gatwick crashed shortly after taking off from the airport.
There were 242 passengers, including two pilots and ten cabin crew, on board. Among them, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.
Moments after the police confirmed that all 242 passengers survived the crash, a lone survivor emerged. Identified as a 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British-Indian, the passenger was seen walking around, his white t-shirt and dark trousers barely scorched. The sole survivor reportedly jumped out of his seat, 11A, confirmed Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik.

The plane crashed into the hostel building of the B. J. Medical College, where five medical students were killed along with passengers and crew on the flight, and many on the ground suffered injuries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inspected the plane crash site and visited the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
