Google has announced its Android 15 as the company unwraps a 3D Android mascot to fete the launch on Wednesday but will be officially available in the upcoming weeks only. Android 15 will be released on selected devices from the brands Samsung, Honor, iQoo, Lenovo, Motorola, Nothing OnePlus, Oppo, realme, Sharp, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, and Tecno in the coming months. However, Google hasn’t released it on its Pixel phones but it will unveiled on selected Pixel devices in the coming weeks. Through the release, the company makes the source code available at the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

Let’s look at what Android 15 brings new:
- Users can save their favourite split-screen app combinations for quick access and pin the taskbar on the screen. This will help to quickly switch between apps for better large-screen multitasking.
- Defaults to displaying edge-to-edge apps.
- Enables TalkBack to support Braille displays
- Android 15 allow apps to further customize Attention Management (Do Not Disturb) rules by adding types, icons, and trigger descriptions.
- It includes OS–level support for app archiving and unarchiving.
- Foreground services change to improve battery life and multitasking performance
- Introduced new volume control panel
- Features like partial screen sharing and full-screen apps.
- Users will be able to use the Android smartphone’s selfie camera as a webcam on a Windows laptop.

Google is set to also add a new capability to Cirlce to Search, which is available in limited models currently including Pixel and Galaxy smartphones. with the release of Android 15 users can now identify songs which is similar to Apple’s Shazam, in the selected models. The feature on Android 15 will vary from device to device depending on the format and custom skin.
