The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and Alibi Global Private Limited signed a license and consultancy agreement for the transfer of technology to the Spherical Robot for Room Intervention. This agreement was signed at IIT Bombay by Prof. Sachin Patwardhan, Dean (R&D) of IIT Bombay, and Dr. SP Sunil, Director of Operations at Alibi Global.
The Spherical Robot technology was developed at the National Centre for Excellence in Technology for Internal Security (NCETIS), a MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology)-funded center at IIT Bombay. The project was led by Prof. Leena Vachhani and Prof. Abhishek Gupta, whose team”s innovation is now poised to enhance the tactical capabilities of security forces across the nation. Prof. B.G. Fernandes, Professor-in-Charge, NCETIS said that it is one of the flagship projects which was appreciated by the security agencies and police forces.
The Spherical Robot, a state-of-the-art surveillance technology is developed for use by defense and law enforcement agencies. It is designed to operate in hazardous environments compromised by hostile forces. This compact, teleoperated robot, approximately the size of a handball, can be deployed with ease into difficult terrains, providing real-time panoramic visual feedback to its operators.
Under the terms of the agreement, IIT Bombay will also provide handholding support to Alibi for bulk production and further customization of the technology to meet the specific needs of defense and paramilitary forces.

Notably, Alibi is a pioneering cyber intelligence and digital forensic startup company based in the CDAC building at Technopark, Trivandrum. The company has been an active contributor to India”s defense and law enforcement sectors for over three years.
