The new rules are focused on improving toll payments as it may ease plugging on toll booths

A new guideline has been released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)  to standardise the FASTag KYC (Know your Customer) process to be done every three years effective August 1.

The new rules are focused on improving toll payments as it may ease plugging on toll booths. NPCI has updated the new guidelines and can access the FASTag requirements which is mandatory to renew in the given time. This includes the replacement of 5-year-old FASTags that must be changed after the new expiry period.

  • Re-KYC must be added if it extends a 3-year validity period and must update the registration number if a new vehicle is purchased.
  • FASTag has to verify their databases which is mandatory for the providers.
  • It is a must to upload authentic and clear images of the vehicle uploading a front view and a side view of the vehicle.
  • It is important to note that the bFASTag should be linked to a valid mobile number.
  • Issuers should ensure appropriate KYC linked with the mobile number
  • All tags have to be associated with a unique VRN number
  • Issuer may move to hotlist in case of delay or failure

 

The companies are advised to stick to the NPCI mandates which include KYC updating for FASTags older than 3 years and replacing FASTag in 5 years.

For the Paytm payment, the app has launched a new feature that the users can now directly recharge FASTags directly. This was introduced on account of RBI’s new rules and restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL).
