Nothing, the London-based smartphone maker, is now adding the iMessage feature to its Android phone. The company has unveiled “Nothing Chats”, an app that brings iMessage support to Android. According to Nothing, Nothing Chats is a first-of-its-kind app created in partnership with Sunbird. The app permits users to message other iMessage users via blue bubbles on their Nothing Phone.

“Only available for Phone (2) users in the US, Canada, UK, and EU at this time,” mentioned the company during the announcement. The application will go live on the Google Play Store on November 17. Notably, the app is currently in beta. Apart from blue bubble conversations with iMessage users, Nothing Chats also offer various other features. The application will support Rich Communication Services (RCS) between compatible devices, along with features like high-res images and videos, read receipts, and message reactions. It will also support both individual chats and group messages.

With this initiative, the company is trying to attract more users to its Android device. It will also be an advantage for the users, as they will have more options in messaging apps. “At Nothing, we believe in windows, not walls. If messaging services are dividing phone users, then we want to break those barriers down,” Nothing mentioned on its community page. The application is aiming to break down barriers between phone users. The company also informed that users are required to log into their Apple IDs to set up the Nothing Chats with iMessage. The chats will also retain their end-to-end encryption. However, Nothing has not announced when this feature will be available in other countries.
