Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI, has recently got married to his partner Oliver Mulherin. Photos of the wedding ceremony went viral on social media platforms on Thursday and were confirmed by NBC News. The OpenAI co-founder confirmed his wedding in a text message to NBC News.

In the viral pictures circulating online, Sam Altman and Oliver Mulherin can be seen exchanging vows surrounded by palm trees and a small group of guests at an undisclosed tropical beach location. NDTV, citing the LinkedIn profile of Oliver Mulherin, reported that he is an Australian native who graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2016. Oliver Mulherin, a software engineer by profession, has worked at Meta in Menlo Park, California, from 2020 to 2022.

Sam Altman kept his relationship almost private during these years. However, in an interview with New York Magazine in September 2023, Sam Altman disclosed that Oliver Muherin loves big families and the couple plans to have children soon. The New York Times also earlier reported that Sam Altman and Oliver Mulherin share a house on San Francisco”s Russian Hill. It is worth mentioning that Sam Altman and Oliver Mulherin attended a state dinner at the White House last year. It was hosted by US President Joe Biden for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sam Altman co-founded OpenAI, the AI firm behind ChatGPT, in 2015. The AI firm recently made headlines as they removed Sam Altman from the post of CEO. However, the co-founder officially returned to the AI startup as its CEO in November.
