ChatGPT maker OpenAI is preparing to unveil an online store soon that will allow people to share custom versions of the ChatGPT chatbot. In the online GPT Store, which was announced in November 2023, users can sell and share customised AI models based on OpenAI”s large language models (LLMs).

OpenAI said in an email to people signed on as GPT Builders that they will launch the GPT Store next week. In the email, OpenAI also asked the developers to review the company’s updated usage policies and GPT brand guidelines to ensure that their GPTs are compliant. Notably, developers are also required to verify their “Builder Profile” and ensure that their GPTs are published as “public.”

In November, during the first developer conference, San Francisco-based OpenAI introduced a series of AI tool updates. Notably, this includes the ability for developers to create custom versions of ChatGPT. “Anyone can easily build their own GPT—no coding is required,” said the popular AI company on that occasion. With this feature, OpenAI is aiming to encourage community participation in AI development.

OpenAI also mentioned the rollout of the GPT store at the developer conference. The company also said that this online store will feature creations by verified builders. “Once in the store, GPTs become searchable and may climb the leaderboards,” added OpenAI. In the GPT store, Sam Altman-led OpenAI will spotlight the useful GPTs across various categories, like productivity and education. Notably, OpenAI also announced earlier that GPT Builders will be able to earn money based on how much their AI agents on the store are used. The rollout of GPT Store was delayed mainly because of the recently ended chaos to the ouster of CEO Sam Altman.
