Google has announced major job cuts in its top management positions, affecting 10% of its managerial director-level and vice president roles. CEO Sundar Pichai shared the news on Friday during an all-hands meeting, explaining that the layoffs are necessary to align with the company’s shifting business priorities, according to a report by Business Insider.
This move is said to be a part of the company’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, streamline operations, and boost productivity.
The affected management roles have been either transitioned into non-managerial positions or eliminated entirely and this decision is a continuation of Google’s efficiency strategy which was first announced in September 2022.
