The French Police arrested Telegram’s CEO Pavel Durov on Saturday linked to the alleged spread of criminal activities on the platform. It has been discussed on various social media platforms including  X, as Elon Musk defended Durov on account of free speech rights. Now, a 24-year-old woman’s name is being linked to the issue. The woman identified as Juli Vavilova, believed to be Durov’s girlfriend was also detained along with his arrest at the Bourget Airport in France.

It was bruited through an X-post featuring her photo on a plane with a cryptic caption. Several users have been reposting the tweet alleging that the woman is the one who led to the arrest of Pavel Durov.

Users stated that the woman accompanied Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram which later led to their arrest at the French airport and they had even honed their target shooting skills before coming to Paris from Azerbaijan.

On the X platform, conspiracy theorists recounted that the woman has been sharing details regarding their trip to France online that make it easier for French authorities to track Durov’s landing point. However, as per the French media reports, Telegram founder Durov was under scrutiny for quite a long period till the arrest.

Who is Juli Vavilova?

Juli is said to be a crypto coach and streamer based in Dubai who boasts over 26,000 Instagram followers and is eloquent in different languages including Russian, Spanish, Arabic and English. She has been photographed and spotted with her rumoured boyfriend Durov in various locations such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, according to her Instagram feeds and multiple stories from related fan accounts.

It was said that Juli was constantly updating their trivial travel activities online, shortly before the arrest at the French airport. They were travelling from Azerbaijan to France and got arrested immediately after landing at Le Bourget. Certain speculations suggest that Juli may have deliberately given hints to the authorities as she had allegedly been involved in conspiracies even labelling her as a Mossad agent (Mossad agents are responsible for intelligence collection, covert action, and counterterrorism activities outside the borders of Israel). However, this blatant hearsay has no valid claims or carries any official confirmation from anyone assigned to the case.

According to AFP, Telegram stated that Durov has nothing to hide and he travels frequently in Europe. Also, the company said on X that Telegram abides by EU laws its moderation sticks to the industry standards and the app tries to improve constantly without breaking the policies.

On Saturday, French authorities arrested the telegram app’s CEO Pavel Durov, the 39-year-old entrepreneur in Paris, the founder of the messaging app when he arrived in his private jet at Le Bourget Airport. The arrest was made under a warrant linked to certain offences on the Telegram platform and is likely to face serious charges as per the French media. The investigation centres on Telegram’s alleged lack of content moderation, including fraud, cyberbullying, drug trafficking, promoting illegal activities and its alleged failure to forbid promoting terrorism on the platform.
