Saudi Tourism has gained momentum all over the world due to its exquisite and vast demography deluged with tradition and aesthetics.  Yet, there are less explored places that carry history as well as mystery. In the Hezaz province of Saudi Arabia, there is a volcanic field named Harrat Khaybar which is considered as the latest eruption traced in AD 600-700. Archaeologists found that there has been habitation of humans in Harrat Khaybar discovering more than 400 stones from the gates.

There is a place called ‘Jabal Qidr’ in Harrat Khaybar which is added to the list of Geological Heritage Sites by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). This ancient volcanic field is shaped by 5 million years of eruptions which is also home to the enigmatic White Mountains such as  Jabal Abyad and Jabal Bayda. Their striking appearance is due to the presence of a rare mineral that lends an ethereal glow to the terrain.

You can explore this mystical land discovering the remnants of Neolithic structures, crafted by pastoral tribes who once called this place home. Known as  “The Works of the Old Men,” this was first spotted by Royal Air Force pilots in the 1920s. However, the significance and beauty of the space is still unexplored.

If you wish to jaunt through paths, that most haven’t taken yet, this is absolutely a stunning place. You can walk through the “desert kites” and “gates,” embedded with hundreds of colossal stone structures that stretch across the landscape like a sentinel. The purpose of these formations remains a mystery that may leave visitors to ponder their significance.

You can also unravel the secrets of Harrat Khaybar Marvel at the sheer scale of the gates which spans over 1,000 feet in length and 250 feet in width. These imposing structures, found nowhere else in the world, are a testament to the ingenuity and skill of Harrat Khaybar’s ancient inhabitants.
