The village is located 200 kilometers northwest of Riyadh, near the town of Shagra. It comprises seven districts with 400 mud houses and 25 mosques. The name ‘Ushaiqer’ meant ‘little blonde’, and it traced its origins to the nearby red mountain that gives shades to the mud houses.

The history of the village dates back to 1500 years. Bedouins, Arab-speaking nomadic tribes of the Middle Eastern tribes, first settled in Ushaiqer and soon it became a major stopping point for pilgrims coming from Kuwait, with beautiful springs offering water and low-brimmed olive and palm groves giving shade.
The strolls on the pathways captivate tourists with the great Najdi architecture, with its signature triangular windows and roofs, carved wooden doors, and beautiful windows. Besides, a museum established by the locals, called the Al Salem Museum, gives a glimpse into the tradition and cultural heritage of the village, featuring old artifacts, pictures, weapons, utensils, embroidered clothing, jewelry, and gadgets.
