A video shared by Supriya Sahu, Health Secretary of Tamil Nadu, has gained traction on the social media platform X. A long line of veterinary mobile vans stands along a road, ready to provide veterinary services to the state.
The free ambulance service, equipped with essential facilities, aims to provide proper medical treatment to ailing domestic animals and poultry birds.
Sharing the video, the IAS officer stated that the vans will cover two villages per day, covering even the remote areas in the state. They are also connected to a call center to reach on site when required, she added.
Earlier, there were reports and outrage over 250 vans designated as veterinary vans sitting idle in a private yard in Poonamallee. The Tamil Nadu government blamed the central government for not releasing the funds to operationalise the fleet.
The vans are expected to operate in rural regions where no veterinary clinics are available, providing medical care to cattle and farmers without causing inconvenience to them.
